Unbox – iD4 Audio Interface (Pt 1) – Good 1st Impressions but… Config angst

Unbox – iD4. After some research I had decided that the Audient id4 Mk11 was the right audio interface to help me go to the next level and go for the bigger jobs I had in my sights. I ordered this through Amazon and it magically arrived with remarkable speed on my doorstep.

Unbox – iD4. Nice Construction but….

It had a nice solid construction and feel. It concerned me a bit that the lead supplied had two male connectors which would be incompatible with my laptop and I think was intended for Apple tablets, IOS or whatever.

Apparently it had a lot of freebee software from the Audient site and that was where I could register it and download the drivers. This was where the problems started really. When I attempted to register it would not accept the serial number on the back, well no biggie. This experience was beginning to remind me of the Marshall speakers I got a while back – great speakers but their software was from another era and never functioned well, which was a shame.

Ok then all plugged in and oh the horror. I plugged in my Audio Editing suite, I like Wavepad currently. Yeah I know people say it is too commercialised but like its simplicity. I use the lovely but clunky open source Audacity for things NCR (Wavepad) wants me to pay for, like file conversion.

A sad day for my ‘Unbox – iD4’ but all hope was not lost.

The interface didn’t work, I fiddled with the settings ‘find my device’ etc etc and oh the horror Code 43 – Driver not recognised grrrr.

Part 2… There could be trouble ahead…..(Unbox – iD4 continued)
