Fixing Code 43 on iD4 ….grrr, Unbox (pt 2) – ‘Device Not Recognised’

Fixing Code 43 on iD4 ….grrr, Unbox (pt 2) – ‘Device Not Recognised’ my enthusiasm from receiving my all singing all dancing Audient iD4 Mk2 Audio Interface comes the downer. This is gonna bring it all to a new level, get the big jobs on Voices etc etc. Yup, it didn’t work. How could this be ???

After cutting the ribbon on my Audient iD4 Mk2 Audio Interface I had high hopes, which were dashed when I began the set up. I had a deadline and had casually presumed that this interface would hit the ground running like all the other, lesser interfaces I had used previously, but no.

Now, on my Windows 10 operating system the microphone settings are incredibly poor and clunky like they came as an after thought to the developers. Take note you incompetent grinders. The actual on/off toggle for the microphone manifests as a pop up which will disappear again, so you have to click it quick. Just horrible.

My previous Behringer UMC22 Audiophile 2×2, 48 kHz USB Audio Interface with Midas Mic Preamplifier..

My Behringer, it was doing an Ok job but one of the connecting wires was frayed and I thought I may have been missing a trick when going for bigger jobs. So it was time for an upgrade. Interfaces can be a bit deceptive, depending on usage. I established that I was indeed getting an interface that was better rather than just more expensive, but more of that later.

I pulled out the iD4 and replaced the Behringer, to finish my last minute job. Not happy. The Behringer was still working fine.

Troubleshooting time – oh the horror

I really did not want to be messing around with this, total pain. I tried add the device, nothing. Digging deeper I went into the ‘Microsoft Management Console

Tried to find my device. Unplugged device. Plugged it back in. Spotted the triangle as screen shot about.

Fixing Code 43 on iD4

Ok so am fixing Code 43. That means absolutely nothing to me. I do all the standard things. I go online, I ask chat. I fiddle around with Windows operating system. I try uninstalling the driver. I try updating the driver. I try searching for a legacy driver. I note that registering my device with Audient was a problem because Audient refused my serial code. Could that be that problem in some convoluted way… don’t know. Ok. THIS IS BAD. Thinking about sending it back with many unpleasant words.

Getting Warmer…..Power Plans

Right there is the suggestion about ‘Power Plans’ what is going on here ? With difficulty I fiddle around with Windows until I manage to find the right button to increase it to ‘High Performance’. It was a pain to find and the fix did not work. I went to bed thinking about trying my hub to see if that would help.

My USB Hub

My Vkusra USB Hub. Not the most user friendly of names. I set it up from my bedroom with a mic. It felt like a total long shot, but hey presto everything was working fine now.
